ASSISTANT/ASSOCIATE DEAN OF ACADEMICS University of Northern Colorado - Graduate Studies Job Summary The Assistant/Associate Graduate Dean for Academics reports directly to the Associate Provost and Graduate Dean in all matters related to graduate education, graduate faculty and compliance. The Assistant/Associate Graduate Dean for Academics works collaboratively with the Assistant Dean for Graduate Admissions and the Assistant to the Associate Provost and Graduate Dean. The Assistant/Associate Graduate Dean for Academics shall have primary oversight of the following areas: graduate student professional development, degree and program compliance as well as petitions for exception, thesis, capstone and dissertation, graduate faculty status including the doctoral research endorsement workshops, graduate students’ concerns and academic appeals. Additional duties may involve developing measures to insure the quality, advancement and vitality of graduate education, student success, equity, inclusion and engagement, as well as, promoting university-wide innovation and accountability in graduate programs and certificates, fostering interdisciplinary graduate programs consistent with the university’s mission, and maintaining the environment of support among graduate programs, students and faculty. The Assistant/Associate Graduate Dean for Academics shall advise or act on behalf of the Associate Provost and Graduate Dean in matters of planning, development and administration relating to graduate studies. The Assistant/Associate Graduate Dean for Academics will coordinate communications related to graduate programs and graduate education with the leadership team in the Graduate School and keep the Associate Provost and Graduate Dean fully informed on the day-to-day functioning of the Graduate School and International Admissions Office. Minimum Qualifications This position requires two years experience in an leadership/administrative role within a doctoral granting institution, preferably within a graduate school or graduate admissions office. Two years experience as a academic leaders (college dean, department chair) will also be considered. Preferred Qualifications Earned doctoral degree and ability, if desired, to meet the requirements of tenure, graduate faculty status, and associate/full professor faculty in one of the academic programs offered at UNC .
